Take on materials





 

 

We investigate the potential of using site-specific and existing resources. No matter the location, our ideas materialize from the exisiting. The scooter shop is the one place we return to - our bank of materials. We extract, refigure, and relocate the left-behind interior. We store leftover materials from other projects-sites next to the stuff from the scooter shop.

We ask: “What can we create with a surface, a hook, or a container?”

The material or object decides more than taste and trends. Our ideal of aesthetics accommodates the condition of the material, its history, and its afterlife rather than subjecting the material to a predetermined will. To value the idea more than the material, often requires use of new materials - that is what we try to avoid, by having a constant material dialogue in which the materials are given the first and final word.
